Women drivers share their experiebce with Transport minister
Presides over a workshop on ‘Road Safety Awareness’ at HIPA
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri in a workshop on ‘Participation of Women in Road Safety Awareness’ organised at HIPA today interacted with the ‘women drivers’ and interacted with them. The women also shared their experience with Sh. Agnihotri. He said that road safety awareness campaign is being run by the Transport department and said that women today are moving towards self-reliance as there are more than 1 lakh 10 thousand women drivers in Himachal Pradesh which was a matter of pride when it comes to gender equality.
He said that safe roads were fundamental conditions for women and their children to access work, education, health, and social services, including one’s social network of family and friends. Road safety is linked to women’s economic and social empowerment and helps determine the extent of their freedom of choice and movement.
The motive of this workshop was to interact with women drivers and improve the system accordingly, said Sh. Agnihotri.
Director Transport Anupam Kashyap said that as per the orders of Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, a road safety awareness campaign is being run by the department. Women’s participation is also being given important place in it. He said that women working on every segment were included in this workshop. Kajal Mokta, a resident of Nerva of Chaupal, told that she drives almost all types of vehicles. This includes small vehicles, bicycles and even machines. Mokta says that today women are doing better work in every field, so they should come forward in this field also. Apart from this, Bhavna, who drives a taxi in Shimla, says that she has been driving for the last 16 years. In this, first she started with a private vehicle, after which she started driving a taxi on a commercial vehicle. Apart from this, other women drivers also shared their experiences on this occasion. During this, these women drivers asked the girls and women of the state to increase their participation and come forward in this field besides join hands with the department to create awareness regarding Road Safety.

Our Motto to develop Road Safety Culture in Himachal: Mukesh Agnihotri
Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri today flagged off the Road Safety Walk from the State secretariat till the Scandal point, Shimla.
He said that to reduce the accidents in the State, special awareness campaigns were being organised throughout the State.
We are committed to develop road safety as a “Culture” amongst the public of the State and other road users so that frequency of road traffic accident could be reduced and precious human lives be saved”, he remarked.
All possible measures were being taken to reduce the number of road traffic accident and resultant fatalities and injuries.
He said that 90 percent of road accidents take place due to human error and the motive of organizing such walks was to make aware people regarding the traffic rules and initiatives of the government.
He said that the transport department was earnestly working in creating mass awareness and as a result there has been a 13 percent decline in road accidents and the credit goes to the Transport department. He said that along with the Intelligent Traffic Management system the CCTV cameras will also be installed all over. Further, regular awareness camps are also being organized through various stakeholders like Taxi Unions, Heavy Goods Vehicle Unions, NGOs as well as general public
He also appreciated the secretariat employees to make the walk a success like every year.

उप-मुख्यमंत्री ने सड़क सुरक्षा जागरूकता वॉक को झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया
उप-मुख्यमंत्री मुकेश अग्निहोत्री ने आज हिमाचल प्रदेश सचिवालय, शिमला से रिज मैदान तक सचिवालय कर्मचारी संघ की सड़क सुरक्षा जागरूकता वॉक को झंडी दिखाकर रवाना किया।इस अवसर पर मुकेश अग्निहोत्री ने कहा कि परिवहन विभाग द्वारा 15 जनवरी से 14 फरवरी तक प्रदेश भर में सड़क दुर्घटनाओं को कम करने के लिए विशेष जागरूकता अभियान चलाया जा रहा है। उन्होंने सड़क सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने के प्रयास में सचिवालय कर्मचारियों की सहभागिता की सराहना करते हुए कहा कि राज्य सरकार द्वारा प्रदेश में सड़क दुर्घटनाओं को कम करने के लिए बहु आयामी प्रयास किए जा रहे हैं। इसके दृष्टिगत राज्य के सभी जिलों में विभिन्न प्रकार के जागरूकता कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए जा रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि अधिकांश सड़क दुर्घटनाएं मानवीय चूक के कारण होती हैं इसलिए वाहन चालकों के साथ आम आदमी को भी सड़क सुरक्षा नियमों के बारे में जागरूक करना नितांत आवश्यक है। परिवहन विभाग इसी लक्ष्य के साथ निरन्तर कार्य कर रहा है। मुकेश अग्निहोत्री ने कहा कि परिवहन विभाग द्वारा सड़क सुरक्षा सुनिश्चित करने के लिए आधुनिक सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी का भी बखूबी इस्तेमाल किया जा रहा है। इसके लिए इंटेलीजेंट ट्रैफिक मैनेजमेंट सिस्टम के साथ-साथ सीसीटीवी स्थापित किए जाने की प्रक्रिया आरम्भ की गई है।वाहनों के दस्तावेज भी ऑनलाइन जांचे जा सकेंगे। विभाग द्वारा लोक निर्माण विभाग के सहयोग से ब्लैक स्पॉट्स को सुधारने के लिए कार्य किया जा रहा है। उप-मुख्यमंत्री ने लोगों से सड़क सुरक्षा नियमों की अनुपालना सुनिश्चित करने का आग्रह किया। .0.
