Mukesh Agnihotri

                                                is the first Deputy Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh.

He is Minister of Jal Shakti, Transport, Language, Arts & Culture and Co-operation

Mukesh Agnihotri is a member of Indian National Congress. He has been Member of Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly since 2003 from Haroli Constituency (formerly Santokhgarh till 2012) winning five times consecutively.

Sh. Mukesh Agnihotri defeated Sh. Jai Kishan Sharma – the then President of the State Unit of BJP in 2003 in his very first election and has been undefeated since then.

Mukesh was sworn in as first Deputy Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh on 11th Dec 2022 at historical Ridge, Shimla.

He was Leader of Opposition in the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly from Jan 2018 to Dec 2022 – a post previously held by stalwarts like former Chief Ministers Sh Virbhadra Singh and Sh Prem Kumar Dhumal. 

Mukesh Agnihotri was the Minister of Industries, Government of Himachal Pradesh along with being Minister of  Labour & Employment, Parliamentary Affairs & Public Relations from Dec 2012 – Dec 2017.
He has been Chief Parliamentary Secretary incharge of Housing & Health Departments. He was Chairman of Housing Board from 2008 to 2012.

Born on 9th October 1962 to Sh Onkar Chand Sharma and Smt Pushpa Sharma. He has imbibed their teachings of hard work and philanthropy in his life. 

Mukesh is married to Professor Simmi Agnihotri and they have one Daughter Dr. Aastha Agnihotri.

Mukesh Agnihotri is a Post Graduate and a journalist by profession. He has worked with the Indian Express Group at Shimla & Delhi Bureau of Hindi Daily, Jansatta. He is a recipient of the ‘Best Coverage Award’ for reporting Assembly proceedings during the year, 1994-95.
